Doesn’t Become Roadkill

Fellow Business Colleagues and Friends,

There is a digital business revolution that is rapidly exploding.  You have probably heard such technical jargon as machine learning, metaverse, artificial intelligence, and other high-tech terms being thrown around.  This is the language of the new digital business environment that we are all presently living and working in.

Now if your business is not digitally capable, guess what?  It will soon become roadkill along the shoulder of the digital superhighway and leave you wondering what happened.

Here are a couple of things you need to know about the digital revolution and how it is going to impact you and your business moving forward.

First point. A recession is coming. This eventuality, if it happens, will be important to your business because things are going to tighten up and your business revenues will most likely fall.  Now if your business is not digitally capable this revenue downturn is going to smack you even harder as  your competitors, who are digitally capable, will be taking business from you.  Not being digital capable will cost your business a lot of income and revenue from lost sales.

Understanding The Buyers Journey Is Critical

Buyers Journey

In order to be ready for the impending recession, you need to understand the Buyers Journey. The Buyers Journey consists of three stages.  The first stage is “Awareness”.  In order for prospective customers to do business with you they first have to know your business exists. The way customers find businesses these days is by doing an online search. If your business does not show up in online searches then prospective customers can’t find you. In effect, your business is invisible and inaccessible to new customers. This is why your business needs to have a strong online presence and search visibility.

Your business can’t survive or thrive in this new digital age if it is out-of-sight and out-of-mind.

The second stage of the Buyers Journey is “Consideration”.  In this stage the prospective buyer compares your products or services to your competition to determine if your business is the best way to go. Now going back to the Awareness stage, if your business can’t be found online most likely it will be non-competitive with businesses that have strong online presences.  Prospective customers can’t do their consideration fact finding on your business if it can’t be found online.

The last stage of the Buyers Journey is “Decision”.  Taking all the information gathered in the “Awareness” and “Consideration” stages, the buyer is now ready to make an informed decision on whether to buy or not to buy.  If your business fails on the first two stages due to poor online presence then you can forget about securing the sale. It’s just that simple.

If your business has a strong online presence through the use of digital systems and technologies you will have a better chance of surviving and thriving during the pending recession and beyond.

 Invest In Business Technology

Second point. During a recessionary period, most businesses look at cutting back and terminating investments in their business operations.  This is the wrong path to take.  Instead of cutting back, you should be building up your business technology arsenal so that your business emerges from the recession stronger and better able to capitalize on a post-recession economy.  Bottom line, in order to get ahead in business, you have to continue to invest in technology no matter whether the current business cycle is recessionary or expansionary.  There is no FREE lunch out there in the business world.

Okay, here’s the 4 Steps you need to take for the rest of 2022 and beyond.

A Website Is Essential To Business Survivability

Step 1: Get a business website that works as hard as you do. Your business website is ultra-important because it is the face of your business.  If your website looks unprofessional then business prospects will most likely perceive that your business is also unprofessional and will go elsewhere. Now if your business does not have a website at all you can forget about it as your business will not even be on the digital radar screen.

Social Media Marketing Is A Game-Changer

Step 2: You and your business need to be on social media in a big way.  In fact, you need to be posting to the various social media platforms at least 15 times a week to make a difference.  Social media is a great business multiplier.  Through it you can drive traffic to your website and acquire new clients and customers at scale.

Text Marketing Can Generate Quick Awareness

Step 3:  Text marketing is a must-use technology because texts immediately get opened and get people’s attention.  It’s a great tool to implement in the Awareness stage of the Buyer Journey.  Just about everyone carries a smartphone and can receive texts.  Consequently, text marketing can readily reach people where they live…on their phones.  When people receive text messages, they open them 95% of the time which is an extraordinary response rate.

Email Marketing Will Sustain And Grow Your Business

Step 4: And finally, your business needs to h have an email marketing system setup to remain in constant contact with your prospect and customer bases. Email marketing has a great ROI in that for every dollar you spend you can expect a return of $40.  By combining email marketing and text marketing you can have a powerful one-two punch that will allow you to build your business faster and bigger.

That’s it for now.  If you need assistance in implementing any of the above steps, just hit me up.  I don’t want your business to become roadkill on my watch.
